There is a lava bluff overlooking the Tranquille Canyon where these two old ponderosa pines 'live' with a grand view. One leans away and one leans into the storms that rip across the canyon.
I love the colours of the wood, silvery with smears of orange fire and green wolf lichen.
THE OLD GUARD 18X24 Acrylic on canvas.
It was a hot day, but here the cold mountain-fed river threads the needle in the tumultuous Tranquille Canyon.
CANYON FALLS 24X24 Acrylic on Canvas
The Tranquille Canyon has a big personality, here it shows off the remains of a volcanic period on the left, and on the right is glacial rock flour compressed into rock.
SPIRES 18x24 Acrylic on canvas.
The snow, the woods, the burden and benefit of carrying wood, a time and way of living gone.
APSAROKE TIPI 18x24 Acrylic on canvas.

From BW photo by Edward Curtis late 1800's.
Hiking into sub-alpine country affords not only great views but the rare fresh air available no where else that is made by conifer forests. In this painting the viewpoint is from Chuwhels Mountain SW of Kamloops looking NW toward Greenstone Mountain.
MOUNTAIN AIR 15X30 Acrylic on canvas.
RAIN FOREST CREEK - KANAKA CK, BC 18X24 Acrylic on canvas.
Free range horses are common around Kamloops and for me they are a reminder of earlier times when being free to roam was normal. Imagine being free to roam....
Huz and I were out for a hike and the clouds were kissing the mountain softening the forest forms into a dreamworld when we came upon these horses, others were nearby.

Two years in a row this doe has produced twins. Its been a privilege watching her raise, defend, feed and care for them. The little ones race across the hills on legs like springs making us laugh with their antics.

While walking in the woods, a small clearing by a little stream drew me to its edge. Like fanciful curls of long hair, little whirlpools spun off the tip of a log trailing out like stars against the sky seen in the water.

This Merganser drew up alongside our canoe as we paddled a glassy lake. The jelly-like water pushed by his breast and the glint in his eye from the low morning light pulled me to paint him in detail.
