"Because the unseen world is very near to us, to see the unseen helps us take account of the whole world in which we live." Mairi is in nature for long periods painting the hidden side of life, not merely the husk of things. Stripped away is the surface appearance - the skin so to speak - revealing energy beneath and within that animates it.These artworks are what the energy reveal what the energy looks like. It is always there, and viewers always feel it, but are often unaware of how it ‘looks’. Look closely and the recognizable may be revealed. |

In France there are two caves of images painted around 40,000 years ago. The other cave is Lascaux. In both are the works made by human beings more evolved than 'cave men' in my opinion. This painting filtered through.
