Discover dynamic landscape sketching in this four-session course with local artist Mairi Budreau. Learn to translate a huge scene onto the pages of a small sketchbook, build depth while capturing light and shadow, decide what to keep and what to leave out and compose with an interesting focal point. Whether sketching for pleasure or in preparation for paintings, these techniques develop observation skills and guide you in capturing the essence of the landscape. Participants are encouraged to bring their phone or camera.
Please note that this course incorporates sketching in the landscape at locations such as Cooney Bay, Riverside Park, Barnhartvale and Six-Mile Point and may include sitting on the ground or standing for prolonged periods. Most of the walking will be on level terrain, but may include some low to moderate hills. Participants are encouraged to bring their own assistive devices, chairs or portable easels if desired.
No experience is necessary. All supplies are provided.
This course has space for 12 participants.
